Aug 8, 2006 - According to a 18yr study conducted by Vanderbilt University, coffee is an excellent source of antioxidants and other beneficial compounds. The study which was also carried out in France and Denmark, suggests that coffee may reduce the risk of Parkinson's disease, liver cirrhosis, gallstones and even dental caries. The study which included 126,000 people found a positive correlation with those that consumer two or more cups of coffee per day. What, you ask, is responsible for this? Well, several. Coffee is estimated to contain over 1,000 compounds with perhaps the most bioactive being: trigonelline, chlorogenic acid, and several tocopherols. According to research scientist Tomas DePaulis - "coffee is far more healthful than it is harmful." For more info: http://www.sierrasun.com/article/20060808/COMMUNITY/60807006
