MARCH 15, 2007 - Those sufferring from gastroesophageal reflux disease or commonly known as GERD, may be pleased to hear that Folgers has launched a new line of coffee called "Simply Smooth". According to Folgers approximately 35 million to 40 million Americans say they have cut back on coffee consumption or eliminated it because of stomachs problems.

Simply Smooth, introduced last spring by Folgers' parent company, Procter & Gamble, is one of a growing number of "stomach-friendly" coffees now available. Other, smaller manufacturers are also offering easy-on-the-stomach coffees, including Gentle Java from Coffee Legends and Puroast Low Acid Coffee. And one coffee company, based in Germany, has been marketing to the niche for decades. 

February 23, 2007:  A Spanish study has found coffee, known as a source of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds, also contains high levels of soluble dietary fiber. Fulgencio Saura-Calixto and M. Elena Diaz-Rubio of the Spanish National Research Council discovered coffee contains significantly higher levels of soluble dietary fiber than other commonly consumed beverages.

March 1, 2007 - Well its that time again when we all need reminding of our "caffeine awareness". During the next 31 days in March cities all over the United States will mark the official launching of "National Caffeine Awareness Month". The campaign, which seeks to raise awareness on the risks of caffeine consumption has been growing steadily since 2004.

February 18, 2007 - As if the caffeine content in our morning cup of Joe wasnt enough - 7-Eleven has decided to add supplemental caffeine extracts into their newly launched "Fusion Energy Coffee". The extract which is obtained from guarana, gingseng and yerba mate - is being added to coffee, creating a beverage with almost twice the concentration of caffeine.
