Training Modules: General Education - The History of Coffee
This module will take you on a journey to understanding coffee's history and how it shaped society.
Sensorial Analysis of Coffee: Taste & Smell - The Science of Tasting: Sensory Skills
This module will test a cuppers ability to taste and discern varying degrees of taste modalities in aqueous solution.
- The Science of Coffee Aroma: Olfactory Skills
This module will test a cupper's ability to identify some of the most commonly found aromas found in coffee.
Coffee Cupping & Testing Evaluation
- Origin Cupping Session
This module will introduce students to the basics of "cupping" and profile identification in various origins of coffee.
- Triangulation Testing
This exam will test a cupper’s ability to differentiate similar coffee profiles. Typically every cupping session has its own triangulation set, where students are tested to determine their ability at discerning sensory differences.
- Coffee Chemistry: Quality & Processing Fundamentals
This module will discuss the science & chemistry behind coffee cultivation, processing, and roasting from a technical perspective. It is an excellent introduction to coffee science for those seeking more of a technical background.
