Brewing Test Kit

This ultra portable test kit is designed to test both acidity (pH) and total dissolved solids (TDS) in both water and coffee. 

Coffee Quality and pH/TDS - Why test for pH/TDS? 

pH - Coffee typically has a pH between 4.9 to 5.2 depending on a number of factors. Roasting, for example,  has a significant affect on coffee pH, with lighter roasts containing higher acidity (lower pH) and darker roasts lower acidity (higher pH). Since pH affects flavor, use the meter to accurately monitor and adjust acidity to produce "optimal" blends.

TDS - Water makes up approximately 98-99% of coffee's beverage. According to published studies by the Coffee Brewing Institute (CBI), water should be between 100-200ppm - ideally 150ppm. Remember, bad water means bad coffee!

Digital Scale & Spoon - use the included spoon & digital scale to accurately measure out ground coffee in accordance to the Brewing Control Chart.  Once brewed, adjust your measurements and/or grind size to achieve the widely recognized "Gold Cup" as published by the SCAA.
